A very popular social media service.
After using Last.fm for quite a while I wanted a method to share my listening habits through the social networks. I initially wrote a small application in December 2009 that was used by a few friends. This small idea began to grow quickly and before long I'd taken on thousands of new users for my new service, LastStat.us.
A few other similar services were in existence that either didn't perform very now defunct. One of these was a service called tweekly.fm which was operated by Simon de la Rouviere. After discussions with the Simon, it was agreed that my project would replace the existing tweekly.fm implementation and I'd take over the operational aspects of the service. You could call it an acquisition, but Simon still has a big say in the direction of where tweekly.fm will go.
Where the original tweekly.fm had failed, the new codebase was excelling and pushed the service to over a 100,000 users in its first 12 month period. Publishing for Facebook was added in the summer of 2010 and performance increases were made in both speed and operation. My humble little project had grown into a widely used system that people come to rely on to publish their statistics to their social networks.

Twitter vs Facebook
The service initially only supported Twitter for publishing to, in the late part of 2010 I added support for Facebook.
I'd really not expected Facebook to have that large a share at this point. Given Twitter had an eight month head start, Facebook won't take too long to catch up. Given that I'm aiming to make the Tumblr integration and other services live soon then I believe this will once again change.
Best Day for Signups:
Most users signed up for tweekly.fm on a Monday, closely followed by Wednesday. The total number of users that joined the service in 2010 was 91,325. On January 23th 2011, the service passed 100,000 users.
I'd always suspected that Monday would be the busiest day for signups. This has a lot to do with the huge volume of updates pushed out on a Sunday. However I can't even explain why Wednesday has such a large share. At a guess I would imagine that people are seeing the end of Monday updates and signing up later. This is one area that I'm going to be tracking a lot closer this year.
Publishing Day
By far the most popular choice for weekly auto-publishing in 2010 was Sunday. This trend has continued into 2011 but a few of the lower traffic days have picked up slightly as you can see below.
This amount of growth is normal for the service, there has always been a Sunday heavy bias. Most people around the world treat Sunday as being the end of the week, which in my opinion is why it is so popular. The amount of popularity that Monday has can be attributed to the Twitter trend 'Music Monday'. Although this seems to be fading out slowly, growth for the day is continuing. Poor Thursday isn't getting too much attention though.
